Needle Found In Halloween Candy In This Detroit Suburb: Police

CANTON TOWNSHIP, MI — A piece of Halloween candy collected in Canton Township had a sewing needle partially protruding from the wrapper, according to police.
The candy in question, a fun-size Twix, was collected by a trick-or-treater in the area of Saltz and Sheldon roads, police said.
“Parents are urged to thoroughly inspect all Halloween candy before allowing children to consume it,” the Canton Township Police Department said Saturday afternoon in a social media post.

“… If you come across any candy that appears tampered with or suspicious, do not eat it and simply discard it. At this time, this appears to be an isolated incident, but out of an abundance of caution, we want the community to be aware and vigilant.”
Anyone who finds an object in a piece of candy is asked to call police at 734-394-5400 so officers can collect and investigate it, according to authorities.
