This week marks the beginning of another exciting school year for our teachers and the final week of summer vacation for our students and parents.  

We are excited that our office and administrative staff remains the same this year, we welcome some new teachers and staff to the Frog Pond, and we continue our search for some great people to fill some paraprofessional openings for lunch duty, arrival, and dismissal.  This is a terrific opportunity, particularly for stay-at-home moms, dads, and grandparents to make a little extra money and build a greater connection to the school.  This position opens the door for hours later in the year to help in classrooms as well.  If interested, please visit Support Staff Positions.  The job codes for Eriksson are:

  • The following is our schedule of events and important information for the coming week.

    Upcoming Schedule:

    • Monday, August 30 ~ Teacher placements will be visible on MISTAR Parent Portal after 4:00 PM.  Once logged in, your child’s teacher name will appear as the student’s advisor. 

    • Tuesday, August 31 ~ Kindergarten Orientation is scheduled on Zoom from 6:30-7:30 PM for our new Kindergarten and Young 5’s Kindergarten families.  

    • Wednesday, September 1 ~ Virtual Open House is scheduled from 5:30-7:00 PM. We have staggered the Zoom meeting times to honor the schedules of families with multiple children as much as possible. Please plan for the following schedule:  Y5/K & 1st Grade ~ 5:30-5:55,  2nd & 3rd Grade ~ 6:00-6:25, 4th & 4th Grade ~ 6:30-7:00.

    • Tuesday, September 7 ~ First Day of School ~ ½ Day ~ Students will be dismissal at 12:10 PM. 

    • Wednesday, September 8 ~ First Full Day of School for students in grades 1-5 with dismissal at 4:01 PM. Y5/K students will continue with half days both Wednesday and Thursday during the first week of school. 

  • Friday, September 10 ~ First Full Day of School for our Y5/K students.

    PTO News:

    Our PTO is kicking off the new year with an Ice Cream Social on Friday September 10th, from  5-7PM.  This event will be held outdoors on the front parking lot. 

    Cookies and Cream Detroit is a local mobile ice cream truck that offers Michigan made ice cream choices in the form of sundaes, cookie sandwiches, or donut sandwiches.

    Cost is $5-$8 depending on choice.  Cash, Credit Cards, Cash App and Venmo will all be accepted.  

  • Masks are required for students, staff, and visitors while indoors, regardless of vaccination status, for grades Pre-K through 12th grade and Post-secondary programs while the county is in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Transmission level of either Substantial or High.

  • FOR FAMILIES WHO USE TRANSPORTATION: Consistent with the CDC's Requirement for Face Masks on Public Transportation, which includes school buses, face masks will continue to be required for students, staff, and drivers while using P-CCS transportation services. 

  • Please review the P-CCS Mitigation Plan Updates Snapshot for a concise visual representation of these updated guidelines. These precautions will remain in place until October 31, while we re-evaluate school, community, and County transmission data and trends every two weeks to inform future decisions.     • Absence Line - to help us make sure that all children arrive safely to school, please report the absence or tardiness of your child by calling 734-981-5560 ext. 2.  Office staff will call to check on unconfirmed absences.
    • Arrival and Dismissal - Look for a video description of our updated arrival and dismissal procedures using our new parking lots and parent loop in next week’s Frog Pond Report!

     

    Back to School Check-In Process

    • The Back to School Check-in process, which is a requirement for returning Kindergarten through 12th grade P-CCS families to easily update medical, demographic, and contact information in MISTAR Parent Connection (formerly Parent Portal), will open on August 16. If completed online through this process, you will not have to complete an emergency card for your student at the beginning of the 2021-22 school year.

    • Once logged into MISTAR Parent Connection, you will look for the ‘Back to School Check-in’ link in the top of the home screen and follow the prompts. This registration will be available starting on Monday, August 16, and will run until Friday, September 24. This process must be completed for all students.

     

    Extended Day

    • Champions Extended Day Program  will continue at Eriksson this year. If you are interested in utilizing Champions at Eriksson please click on this link to access information on how to get registered.

    • Monthly Lunch Menus can be found by clicking on this link. Each month I will share the Eriksson specific menu in my weekly updates. 

    • Snacks: Students may bring a snack to school each day. Snack choices are limited to the following items: fruits, vegetables, applesauce, cheese, yogurt, crackers, or pretzels. Individual classrooms may have additional food restrictions to address specific health issues. 

  • Please do not send carbonated beverages to school with your children for snack or lunch. This includes pop and energy drinks.
