As with the beginning of any school year, we have been busy establishing and practicing routines and expectations throughout the building to promote a safe and respectful learning community. But our work doesn’t stop there. To maintain and improve the social-emotional health of our staff and students we continue to use the Second Step program as a resource to guide our work. Research tells us when students are readied to manage their own emotions, form healthy relationships, make good decisions, and cope with everyday social and academic challenges, they are better equipped to learn. Since we know children learn by watching and listening to how teachers, family members, and friends interact, we wish to partner with our families, by sharing our monthly focus to promote student wellness and growth, at school and home.
As a result, during this first month of school, our spotlight has been learning the different aspects of respect - showing others they matter by what we say and do. As a learning community, we consider the feelings of others and celebrate our differences making each of us a valuable asset at Field.

P-CCS will host a community virtual town hall on the topic of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion this coming Tuesday, October 5, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event will be broadcast via the P-CCS Official YouTube Channel and also archived on the channel for future viewing as well.
Co-moderated by the district’s Curriculum and Human Resources departments, the town hall will create an opportunity for district leadership to address questions and feedback directly from the community regarding topics that surround the district’s diversity, equity, and inclusion work.
If you would like to submit a question or feedback to be addressed during the town hall, you will be able to find an online form via the official P-CCS website starting Wednesday morning, September 29. This form will close on Sunday evening, October 3, at 7 p.m.
You can find the P-CCS Official YouTube Channel on the homepage of the official district website or by simply searching ‘P-CCS Official’ on YouTube.

Join us for our Share Night/PTO fundraiser at Culver’s in Westland for dinner on Tuesday, October 12th from 5-8 p.m. A portion of ALL sales will go to Field’s PTO. Please tell your friends and family to come out and order some delicious custard or fries. There will be a raffle. Any child that comes to Culvers will receive a raffle ticket. The PTO is asking for every child to bring 1 canned good and they will receive a raffle ticket. Only 1 raffle ticket per child. The child needs to be present to be entered into the raffle. But they do not need to be present when the actual ticket is drawn to win. The prize is a large stuffed cheese curd. The donated canned goods will be given to a local food bank/pantry. We look forward to seeing you at Culvers!

Just a reminder for parents that the district’s mitigation strategies for the 2021/22 school year are located on the district website at: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Ak4PhoPAqcyn3gXWzAxByXtrIz-cfDfUX-7aOEImstM/edit
It is important for parents to be familiar with these guidelines so that we can keep all students safe and at school (in-person) for the entire school year.
As always thank you for your continued support of Field Elementary. Have a great weekend.
