Happy Friday Wildcats! I hope that you have had a wonderful week. The days have been busy here at Workman Elementary as students are settling into routines and learning how to be responsible, independent, and kind. I am so proud of the way our students are behaving. I am noticing students following directions, using kind words, and being helpful to others.
For our Wildcat kindness focus this month, we are excited to celebrate deaf awareness month. Students will be learning about people who are deaf and what that means. They will read a page from the book, “Just Ask”, learn some simple sign language, and discover famous people who were deaf. Teaching students to celebrate our differences and learn how to be inclusive is the workman way.

- ATTENTION all parents and guardians, would you like to help out during lunch or recess but just aren't able to commit to everyday? We have a wonderful volunteer opportunity for you to help us supervise students during lunch and recess. We are looking for 8 volunteers a day to help with either recess or lunch. The time is from 11:00 am-2:00 pm. You are welcome to volunteer as much as you’d like. Please make sure that you have completed the ichat process before you sign up. Also, all volunteers will need to go through the COVID self screener before coming in. We will be updating the signup genius each month until the end of the school year.
- Thank you in advance for volunteering. This is such a unique year with so many challenges, but with ALL of us working together, I know that we will get through this. #iamworkman

- UPDATE-As of this week Durham School Services, which provides transportation for P-CCS, is still short approximately 17 school bus drivers, including 10 general education routes and no substitutes to cover for illness or vacancies. This is a national, state and local issue in the industry. Durham will do its best to cover all “home to school” and “school to home” routes, which impact P-CEP, several middle schools and several elementary schools. Your patience is appreciated. As soon as new bus drivers receive their full credentials, we will revise the routing.
