Pearl Harbor Day Remembrance At The Plymouth Veterans Memorial
There will be a ceremony at the Plymouth Veterans Memorial for Pearl Harbor Day at 1:00 PM on December 7th. "A Day that will live in infamy"

The Plymouth American Legion Post #391, Commander John Lockwood, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6695, Commander Ron King, and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #528, President Bob Dew and their committees will be hosting a Pearl Harbor Day ceremony on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 1:00 PM, at the Plymouth Veterans Memorial Park on Main Street in Plymouth. All veterans, and the public are invited to attend the ceremony.
The Master of Ceremony for the event will be Lieutenant Colonel Krista A. McKinley. She graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1992, and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. Lt. Colonel McKinley was one of the first women to serve on board a ship, and to earn her gold wings as a military parachutist and airborne rigger.
Pearl Harbor Day. The United States naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii territory, was attacked on December 7,1941. The president of the United States, Franklin D. Roosevelt called it “A date which will live in infamy ……becoming famous for doing something bad.”

The United States was at peace with Japan prior to that date. The Pearl Harbor Naval base in Hawaii was the hub of the United States naval power in the 1940s. Its name came from the pearl oysters that once grew there. The surprise attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese military on December 7,1941 forced the United States into WWII.
Remember, Pearl Harbor Day is a day that should be a quiet memory of the military men and women who never asked questions but followed orders……and died...
