Plymouth Debates Liquor License Cap

The city currently caps the number of establishments with liquor licenses at 25.

PLYMOUTH, MI — Does too much of a good thing lead to problems? That’s the question Plymouth officials are trying to answer in deciding whether to raise its’ self-imposed liquor license cap of 25. With Westborn Market, the Greek Islands restaurant and the new owners of the Box Bar all wanting a license, it’s a tough decision for a community where parking is already a major issue, according to Plymouth Observer report.

"It's always an ongoing discussion," said Plymouth City Commissioner Colleen Pobur, who chairs the Liquor License Review Committee.

"We don't have an objection (to raising the cap) based on a public safety issue at this time," City Manager Paul Sincock said during an LLRC meeting.
