PLYMOUTH TWP., MI — A Plymouth Township bowling alley has had its liquor license suspended by the state of Michigan after investigators said it was serving at one time at least 75 people when indoor dining was prohibited due to Michigan coronavirus restrictions.

Plaza Lanes, located at 42001 Ann Arbor Rd East in Plymouth Township, will have a hearing regarding the suspension of its liquor license and all permits on Dec. 23, according to a state order released Tuesday.

According to a state filing, investigators looked into Plaza Lanes following reports that the business was not complying with restrictions set forth in coronavirus executive orders prohibiting indoor dining during the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Dec. 2, an investigator went to the business, where she said in a report that she found the parking lot to be three-quarters full and a sign on the business saying it was open.

Inside the bowling alley, the investor said she found at least 75 people — some bowling and others eating pizza. The majority of the customers were not social distancing, according to the investigator's report, tables were not 6-feet apart and some but not all employees were wearing masks.

The investigator also ordered a drink for indoor consumption, according to the report.

To date, there have been 442,715 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Michigan, resulting in 10,935 deaths, according to the state.
