Plymouth Voters Defeat Public Safety Property Tax
The tax of up to 1.5 mills was shot down by a close margin of 594-550.

A plan to institute a public safety property tax in order to help fund Plymouth‘s police department was voted down Tuesday, according to a HometownLife report.
The tax of up to 1.5 mills ($1.50 for every $1,000 of a property’s taxable value) would have gone toward hiring two new police officers, as well as other expenses, the report stated. The measure was defeated by a 594-550 vote, the report added.
Plymouth City Commission members vow to find other ways to pay for the extra staffing, the report stated.
