Update: Power Restored for More Than 300 Canton Residents

Late-night outages affected residents between Koppernick and Joy roads east of I-275.

About 315 Canton residents have had power restored after winds caused by Hurricane Sandy knocked out power late Monday.

According to a DTE Energy outage map, residents lost power just before 11:30 p.m. on Monday. Affected areas include a group of homes east of Interstate 275 between Joy and Koppernick roads. 

On Monday, DTE Energy spokesman John Austerberry said that the Michigan-based gas and electric company is anticipate large outages.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory Monday morning for all of southern Michigan, including Midland, Bay, Lenawee, Saginaw, Tuscola, Shiawassee, Genesee, Lapeer, Livingston, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw and Wayne counties. The advisory is in effect until 5 p.m. Tuesday.
