Snapped Utility Poles Cause Power Outages in Canton
No injuries or fires reported in incidents caused by high winds from 'Frankenstorm.'

Strong winds resulting from Hurricane Sandy, or 'Frankenstorm,' snapped two utility poles in Canton, causing hundreds of residents to lose power, according to the Canton Observer.
The largest power outage happened at the Holiday Park neighborhood southeast of Joy Road and Interstate 275, the report said, but power was restored Tuesday for many affected homes.
Crews also worked Tuesday to restore power at Cherry Hill and Canton Center roads. According to the Observer, powerful winds broke a utility pole near the intersection at about 5:50 a.m. Tuesday. The incident caused traffic backups, the report said, because of a blocked northbound lane on Canton Center Road.
