Water Bills Jump For Plymouth residents
City of Plymouth residents will be paying more for water soon.

PLYMOUTH, MI — Get ready to pay more for water Plymouth city residents. New rates — reflecting a 2.59-percent jump — will go into effect July 1. While it’s a much smaller increase than many communities see each year, it will still mean about $30 extra dollars out of the average homeowner’s pocket.
Plymouth Finance Director Mark Christiansen said the water-sewer fund currently has an unrestricted balance of $5,572,647. He said water rates haven't had any major spikes in recent years. "We really haven't had huge increases," he said. "It has been relatively stable."
Plymouth's rate hike compares to a 2.7-percent increase Canton residents faced this year. Plymouth Township hasn't yet set rates for this year. Supervisor Kurt Heise said a decision is likely to come after July 1, when the township has more financial data from the Great Lakes Water Authority.
