What's Open and Closed This Fourth of July
Not going out of town this Independence Day? Here's what will be closed around Plymouth and Canton.

The Fourth of July is Thursday, and while most workplaces are closed and the barbecues are fired up, you still may need to get out and around Plymouth and Canton. Here's what you need to know about what's open and closed.
Area offices
- City of Plymouth: City business will have to wait until Friday as City Hall will be closed Thursday.
- Plymouth Township: Plymouth Township Hall will be closed Thursday and there will be no trash collection.
- Canton Township: The township administration building will be closed Thursday and Friday.
- Mail: The U.S. Postal Service will not have any post offices open on Memorial Day, nor will there be any mail delivery or pickup.
- Emergency: Always call 911 for police and fire emergencies as well as for any suspicious activity.
Around town
- Main Street: Main Street and all of its intersections will be closed from Theodore to Hartsough as the Good Morning USA Parade kicks off at 9 a.m.
- Library: Both the Plymouth District Library and Canton Public Library will be closed Thursday in observance of Independence Day. Canton will reopen on Friday, July 5 at 9 a.m. while Plymouth reopens at 9:30 a.m.
- Entertainment: Catch the latest movie at Emagine Canton or Canton Cinema, both are open July 4th. New releases this week include "Despicable Me 2," and "The Lone Ranger."
- Shopping: Most shopping centers in Plymouth and Canton will be open.
