You'll Never Guess What's Inside These Treasure Boxes at Art in the Park

Woodworking was always a hobby of Don Lake's, but after retiring as a school teacher, he took up making treasure boxes.

"I literally retired and I had to have something to keep me out of my wife's hair - and give me a reason to get up in the morning," he said.

The Zeeland man designs the treasure boxes in all different shapes and sizes, and one other unique feature - some of them have hidden drawers.

Lake said his most popular sellers are the ones that have the hidden drawer built in. 

Lake is one of 75 new first-time vendors during this year's Plymouth Art in the Park.

"I have other friends that are members and when I did the Ann Arbor show last year, one of my friends suggested I do this show this year," he said.

Lake will be at Art in the Park through Sunday when the festival ends at 5 p.m. Locate her booth, number 702, on Penniman Avenue, between Harvey and Main Streets.
