Downtown Rochester Rolls Out Winter Farmers' Market
Scrumptious winter wonderland of gourmet cheeses, hummus, cider and way more,

ROCHESTER, MI — Winter in Rochester isn't just going to be cold this year, it's going to be scrumptious. The Rochester Downtown Development Authority is launching Downtown Rochester Winter Farmers’ Market, which will be jam-packed with goodies including gourmet cheeses, kettle corn, produce, sauces, cider and hot chocolate. Getting hungry yet? The market will run 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays from November 2016 through January 2017 (except for Dec. 24, Dec. 31 and Jan. 21).
And even if the weather outside is frightful, you won't be picking produce in the freezing temperatures at this farmer's market! The Rochester Fire Department (277 E. Second Street, Rochester) will host the event. Kelly McMahon, Market Manager of the Downtown Rochester Farmers’ Market, says “We’re really grateful the fire department let us use their space. It's perfect for families to bring the kids and talk to firefighters, see the trucks and fire pole.”
And the Winter Farmers’ Market could lead to a year-round farmers’ market. McMahon explains “A lot of people would like to see a year-round farmer’s market. The community wants it and so do the vendors. So the Winter Farmers’ Market is a stepping stone. If the community supports this, then that would be wonderful and get us closer to having a year-round market.”
