Driver Busted With .22 BAC: Rochester Weekly Crime Report

ROCHESTER, MI — Rochester Police pulled over drivers for running a red light, driving without headlights on and not wearing a seat belt. All of these offenses turned out to be much more serious, and yielded a pending warrant for operating with a BAC of .17% or higher, a marijuana bust and a misdemeanor ticket for driving with a suspended license.

-Dec. 16 at 12:23 a.m.: A Rochester officer was on patrol in the area of Third and Main St. when the officer observed a vehicle run a red light. The officer completed a traffic stop in that area and spoke with the driver, a 37 year old Clarkston man. The officer noticed signs that the driver had been drinking and performed filed sobriety testing. The man failed the offered tests and was transported to the Rochester Police Department where he submitted to a datamaster breath test with results of .22% BAC. The driver was held until sober and was later released. A warrant for operating with a BAC of .17% or higher is pending.

-Dec. 16 at 12:00 a.m.: A Rochester officer was on patrol in the area of Elizabeth and Parkdale and observed a vehicle driving without its headlights on. The officer performed a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, an 18-year-old Rochester Hills man. The officer noticed signs that there was marijuana in the car and the driver denied having anything illegal in the car. The officer performed a vehicle search and recovered approximately 25 grams of suspected marijuana from a backpack. The driver was arrested and booked at the Rochester Police Department where he was later released with a misdemeanor citation.
-Dec. 18 at 3:00 a.m.: A Rochester officer was on patrol in the area of Main and University when the officer observed a vehicle and noted that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. The officer also ran a records check of the license plate and saw that the registered owner of the car had a suspended driver’s license for failing to pay a ticket for a violation of the safety belt law. The officer performed a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, a 30-year-old Oxford man who was also the registered owner of the car. The man was arrested for driving with a suspended license and was booked at the Rochester Police Department. He was later released with a misdemeanor ticket for driving with a suspended license and another seat belt ticket.
