Good Samaritan Helps Deputies Make Bust

A Good Samaritan helped the Oakland County Sheriff's Office make an arrest on Thursday in Rochester Hills.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office got a helping hand from a Good Samaritan on a traffic stop turned drug bust. Deputies stopped a Kentucky man at Auburn Road and Lower Ridge Drive Thursday at about 4:20 p.m. on a traffic violation. Deputies smelled marijuana from inside the car and then attempted to arrest the man.

The Kentucky man resisted arrest and that’s when the Good Samaritan stopped to help. He was able to hold the suspect while the deputy executed the arrest, according to a Detroit News report.

“As the police continued their search, they found $5,113 in cash in the man’s left jacket pocket. Inside the vehicle, they found a “brownish substance concealed in a pill bottle,” which came back as Ecstasy in a field test. Both suspected drugs found will be laboratory tested to confirm they are narcotics The suspect was taken to the Oakland County Jail, pending charges.”
