Meet Rochester Schools' New Special Education Director

ROCHESTER, MI — Rochester Community Schools has announced the appointment of Concetta Lewis to serve as the executive director of Special Education. Lewis was selected by an interview committee, which included a Parent Advisory Committee representative, to fill the vacancy left by retiring Executive Director Anne Evans.

“The interview process was rigorous and the recommendation reflects a high performing administrator,” said Deputy Superintendent of Teaching and Learning Debi Fragomeni. “We are so honored to have her join our team.”

Lewis recently served as the interim executive director of Special Education for Ann Arbor Public Schools, where she also served as assistant executive director for three years. Additional experience includes serving as teacher consultant and director of Special Education for Ypsilanti Community Schools.

Dedicated to her field, Lewis served as president of the Michigan Council for Exceptional Children and as the district coordinator for the Northwestern University Academic Talent Search Program.

She worked in partnership with university professors and corporations globally to provide special programming in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math for elementary students from low income families and ensure accountability for Special Education programs and service delivery.
