OU’s Honors College Welcomes Spirited Incoming Class at Open House
The Honors College expects to welcome approximately 700 freshmen this fall, a more than 40% increase over last year

On August 5, The Honors College hosted an open house for incoming students and supporters as more than 200 people came to Oak View Hall for an afternoon of yard games, craft stations, snacks and mingling.
OU Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Amy Thompson and OU’s mascot, Grizz, were among the attendees.
The Honors College expects to welcome approximately 700 freshman students this fall, a more than 40% increase over last year.
“Honors College staff totally enjoyed spending time with incoming students and their families,” said Honors College Dean Graeme Harper. “And it was mutual, I think. Such a great event!”
Students automatically qualify to join The Honors College if they have earned a GPA of 3.7 or above. Students who have a GPA between 3.5 and 3.69 can apply to join The Honors College. Learn more about The Honors College at oakland.edu/hc.
