Rochester Christian University to inaugurate Dr. Reggies Wenyika as its 11th president during homecoming week

Rochester Christian University will celebrate the inauguration of Dr. Reggies Wenyika as its 11th president on Oct. 23-24, in conjunction with a festive homecoming weekend.

Wenyika, a distinguished educational leader with three decades of academic and executive leadership experience, started at RCU on June 1, 2025. He previously served as president of Ottawa University Kansas from 2018 to 2024 and of Southwestern Christian University in Bethany, Oklahoma, from 2014 to 2018.

Wenyika has successfully guided accreditation processes, expanded innovative academic and athletic programs to advance student enrollment and diversity, and cultivated impactful global, regional and local partnerships with communities, donors and institutions.

Community Blessing: The inaugural activities begin with a Community Blessing Service on Thursday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. in the Westside Central Chapel. This special occasion will include a time of reflection and blessing, followed by refreshments.

Inauguration: The official investiture will occur on Friday, Oct. 24, at 11 a.m. in the Alumni Center. Later that day, an alumni reception will be held at 6 p.m. in the Gallaher Welcome Center.

Homecoming: Festivities will occur on Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Garth Pleasant Arena:

• Tailgate with "Cappuccino Man" coffee from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Women's volleyball match versus Siena Heights University at noon.
• Chick-Fil-A lunch provided from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
• Men's basketball match against Kentucky Christian University at 3 p.m.
• Women's basketball match versus Alma College at 5 p.m.
