Rochester Hills Public Library Donated 6,000 Face Masks

Facemasks are mandatory for entry into the building, and officials said the donation provides library patrons the necessary PPE.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — Officials at the Rochester Hills Public Library are hopeful a recent donation of 6,000 disposable face masks from the Ford Motor Company Fund will help mitigate the spread of the coronavirus.

“This generous donation from the Ford Motor Company Fund has helped offset the impact of unanticipated expenditures," library director Juliane Morian said. "It helps RHPL do more when our community needs us the most.”

Rochester Hills Public Library was one of the first libraries in Michigan to reopen its doors this summer during the coronavirus pandemic. Facemasks are mandatory for entry into the building, and officials said the donation provides library patrons the necessary PPE if they do not already have it.

In November, RHPL reverted to its Phase Four of its reopening plan, which it said steps back service to drive-thru and express lobby checkout only. While library hours remain the same in Phase Four, patrons must use the self-checkout station in the library’s rotunda and the community Bookmobile is off the road.
