ROCKit Takes Donations For Prom Dresses

ROCKit is collecting gently worn dresses that can be worn to prom for girls who cannot afford a dress.

From ROCKit: Rochester Outreach and Charity for Kids (ROCKit!) is requesting donations of gently used prom, bridesmaid, and evening gowns. Some high school girls cannot afford a prom dress. ROCKit!’s program provides these young women the opportunity to choose a free dress for their prom. Donated dresses can be gently used or new, vintage, long, or short. Accessories and shoes are also welcome.

The collection of gowns will be held from Feb. 1 through March 10. ROCKit is collecting donations of gently-used prom, bridesmaid and evening gowns and accessories. Many high school girls cannot afford a prom dress or wish to be “green” by recycling a gown for their special evening. ROCKit’s 2nd annual ROCK the Prom 2017 - Dress Give-away Event provides these young women the opportunity to select a free dress for their prom.

Donated dresses collected during this year’s dress drive can be gently-used or new, long or short. Gowns in sizes 0 – 6 and 16+ are specifically needed this year. Accessories and shoes are also welcome. Once collected, the gowns will be professionally cleaned by ROCK the Prom’s premier partner, Lapel’s Dry Cleaning (corner of Rochester Rd. & Auburn Rd., Rochester Hills).
