2 Grizzly Bears Enter Restricted Area At Detroit Zoo, No Injuries
Zoo officials said the grizzly bears never posed a safety threat to guests or the public.
ROYAL OAK, MI — Two grizzly bears escaped their habitat at the Detroit Zoo and entered a restricted area at the zoo last weekend, according to officials.
Zoo officials said the grizzly bears entered an area that was designated only for animal care staff at roughly 9 a.m. Saturday.
During that time, zoo officials said the grizzly bears never posed a safety threat to guests or the public, and that nobody was injured in the incident.

Zoo officials worked to "mitigate the situation" and followed safety protocols to make sure the bears and staff were safe.
"The Detroit Zoo is conducting a review of the situation, and we thank our staff for their quick and safe response," the zoo said in a social media statement.
