Why:

  • The Berkley, Royal Oak and Ferndale CROP Walks together probably involve 300-350 local residents.
  • In addition to raising about $30,000 annually for national and international developmental and disaster assistance, the walks raise about $6,000 for local organizations including South Oakland Citizens For the Homeless (The Welcome Inn Day Center), food closets at both St. John’s Episcopal and Good Shepherd Lutheran in Royal Oak., and the lunch program at First United Methodist in Royal Oak.
  • Representatives from all of these local groups will be in attendance on Oct. 20th to receive their checks from Church World Service.
