2 MI Lakes Among Best In Nation For Ice Fishing: List

Two Michigan lakes are among the best in the world for ice fishing, according to a new list.

Hamlin Lake and Lake St. Clair made Fishing Booker's "10 Best Ice Fishing Destinations in the US for 2026."

Hamlin Lake, located near Ludington, is "a well-kept secret," making it perfect for those who like to go ice fishing, according to Fishing Booker.

"Thanks to its manageable size and protected bays, it’s an excellent lake for beginners or families wanting to try ice fishing without feeling overwhelmed," Fishing Booker said.

It's common to catch Bluegill, Crappie and Pike in Hamlin Lake throughout the winter months.

Lake St. Clair, which sits between Michigan and Ontario, "is an underrated gem in the ice fishing world," according to Fishing Booker.

"Though better known for summer boating, this lake transforms in winter with solid ice and thriving fish populations," Fishing Booker said.

It's common to catch Perch, Walleye and Panfish in Lake St. Clair throughout the winter months.
