$5.5M City Funding Approved For Office Building
Royal Oak approved funding for a six-story office building to facilitate the building of a new city hall, police station and park.
ROYAL OAK, MI — The city’s civic center project will move forward. Royal Oak City Council voted Tuesday to approve $5.5 million in funding for a six-story office building for the Central Park Development Group. The move will help pave the way for a new city hall, police station and a park, according to a Royal Oak Tribune report.
“The building is set to be built on the parking lot in front of City Hall, just east of Main Street and near a new parking deck and downtown park the city plans. Royal Oak is ready to spend about $58 million to create the park, build the deck, and construct a new city hall and police station on part of the parking lot around Farmers Market.”
“This is one of the most important projects in the history of the city,” said City Commissioner Dave Poulton of the office building and civic center project. “This is the right plan at the right time for the city of Royal Oak ... with this project we are going to be a top spot.”
