ROYAL OAK, MI — In Downtown Royal Oak, parking is a thing to celebrate and the city knows how to throw a party. On June 15, residents, business owners, city officials and local patrons can come together to appreciate the opening of a new nearly 600-space structure at 11 Mile Road.

The free event includes all kinds of goodies for the family. Here are five things not to miss at the event.

  • Drinks - From 7 a.m. to noon, refreshments will be served. Fingers crossed for sunshine and refreshing beverages on this Saturday occasion.
  • Swag - The Royal Oak Farmers Market will be giving away reusable totes to the first 100 guests and they will be entered into a raffle to win prizes like market bucks to use at vendors at the market.
  • Yoga - Catch the 9 a.m. yoga class led by Namaste Yoga.
  • "Pop up Park" - It's children's activities, snacks, arts, crafts, games, and more thanks to Topology.
  • Remarks - No celebration is complete without an official to mark the occasion. Mayor Mike Fournier will give his quick speech in afternoon.
