Arts Academy in the Woods Appoints Royal Oak Attorney to Board

Arts Academy in the Woods, a fine and performing arts high school in Fraser, has appointed three new members to its board of directors.

The new members are Matt Dreger, a Mount Clemens City Commissioner; Jan Napp, an attorney in Royal Oak; and Stephen Couchman, a Bloomfield Hills business executive.

“These new members bring tremendous career experiences and valuable insights to our board and to our academy,” said Julianne Cuneo, board chairperson.

Dreger is a retired official court reporter who previously worked for the 36^th District Court and the Third Judicial Circuit Court of Michigan.  During his career, he was the director and President of the Michigan Association of Professional Court Reporters.  He was elected to the Mount Clemens City Commission in 2005 and re-elected in 2009.  He serves as President of the board of trustees of the Anton Art Center in downtown Mount Clemens.

Napp, a Sterling Heights resident, works as an attorney with the Royal Oak-based Flood Lanctot Conner Stablein law firm. Prior to joining the firm, she worked for 23 years with the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.  She has argued 10 cases before the Michigan Supreme Court and is the former president of the Wayne County Bar Association. 

Couchman is director of marketing for Bloomfield Hills-based Acme Mills Group, where he in in charge of developing a comprehensive marketing and sales strategy for the firm’s industrial textiles business and its subsidiary companies.  A resident of Bloomfield Hills, he previously operated a marketing and creative consulting firm. 

Arts Academy in the Woods is a free public high school chartered by the Macomb Intermediate School District.  It offers all Michigan students the opportunity to major in the fine and performing arts while completing the Michigan Merit Curriculum.
