Royal Oak Mom Rocker Gets the Funk Out

After playing the video game Rockband for several months Laura Spern, of Royal Oak, decided to "rock for real." In July 2008, at the age of 47, the mother of six pruchased her first drum kit.

She got down to business right away with weekly drum lessons and daily practice and six short months later she did what she never thought she could ever do, Spern joined a band.

The rest as they say is history.
