Homecoming, Beerfest and More this Weekend
Here's five things to do around Royal Oak this weekend.

Looking for something to do this weekend in Royal Oak? Here are some ideas. Click on the links for more information about each event.
1. Reunite with classmates at the 2013 Homecoming at Royal Oak High School on Friday. The Homecoming parade begins at 6 p.m. at 1500 Lexington Blvd. The Ravens take on North Farmington at 7 p.m. at Ravens Field.
2. Laugh with Rocky LaPorte at Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle this weekend. Show time is 8 p.m. and 10:30 Friday; 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $10-$20.
3. Have a drink at Beerfest at the Royal Oak Farmers Market on Saturday. This event will be an experience in taste and sound featuring live music by the Reefermen, great food from Detroit BBQ, Rolling Stone Pizza, ElGuapo and Shimmy Shack, plus over 100 different Oktoberfest beers, ales, IPA’s, cider and more from around the world, across the state and down the street. Tickets $35; V.I.P. tickets $50.
4. Walk, jog or run and make a difference to families touched by cancer at the 2013 Gilda's Family Walk & Run on Saturday. This event is for friends and family members of all ages and fitness levels.
5. Listen to Priscilla Haapa Hawkins and Francesca Leo at the Orson Starr House Museum on Sunday. Performances begin at 2:30 p.m. Hawkins has played as principal cellist in several symphony orchestras in Michigan and California and is currently teaching students. Leo plays flute in her senior year, as a member of the Royal Oak High School wind ensemble, and is also a member of the DSO youth group, the Detroit Civic Orchestra.
