Letter Carriers' Food Drive

This weekend once again mail carriers and Royal Oak residents will come together to help those who need help putting food on the table.

Now in its 21st year, the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive will take place on Saturday, May 11. That day residents are asked to leave a nonperishable item like peanut butter, soup or pasta in a sturdy bag next to their mailboxes before normal mail delivery time.

Postal carriers will collect the food which will be donated to local Feeding America food banks across the country. Last year, letter carriers collected more than 70 million pounds of food, according to a Stamp Out Hunger press release.
