Fournier Declares Victory In Race For Royal Oak Mayor

ROYAL OAK, MI — Royal Oak voters have spoken and appear to have re-elected Mayor Michael Fournier in Tuesday's elections.

Fournier had a sizable lead over Trish Oliver, a longtime Royal Oak resident, according to unofficial vote totals.

With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Fournier gathered 9,426 votes to Oliver's 6,512 and secured nearly 60 percent of the vote, according to unofficial vote totals from Oakland County.

"This was a resounding victory made possible by the many volunteers who spread our positive vision throughout the community," Fournier said in a Facebook post. "Whether you voted for me or not, I will passionately serve all citizens."

Fournier, first elected in 2016, has said his campaign priorities include public safety, infrastructure upgrades and support for Royal Oak's neighborhoods. He plans to increase resources for first responders and social and mental health professionals, replace lead lines and update water infrastructure.
