Free Sharps Drop-Off Wednesday At Beaumont Royal Oak
Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak is holding a sharps drop-off event on Wednesday for proper disposal of needles, syringes and lancets

ROYAL OAK, MI — There is a growing concern about the improper disposal of sharps used by community residents. In response, Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak is holding a sharps drop-off event on Wednesday for proper disposal of needles, syringes and lancets used by area residents.
This free community service will be offered from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. near the main entrance of Beaumont’s administration building, 3711 West 13 Mile Road. Staff will be out front to take the containers of medical sharps. All needles, syringes and lancets must be placed in durable, puncture-proof containers with lids. Acceptable containers include laundry detergent bottles with caps and coffee cans with lids.
“Sharps, such as needles and syringes, need to be carefully disposed of to prevent any risk of injury or infection for those who encounter them,” said Maureen Elliott, Community Relations manager, Beaumont Health. “This community service event will help ensure that sharps are properly disposed of by trained health care and waste disposal workers.”
