Here’s What Locals Want At Royal Oak’s Future Downtown Park
The city heard from some 1,500 locals about what they'd like to see at the new downtown park that's going to be constructed.

ROYAL OAK, MI — Royal Oak residents, visitors and supporters came together to envision what the ideal downtown green space would look like and those ideas are now ready to be shared. The city heard from more than 1,500 individuals as they gathered feedback for the new downtown park being planned.
Consultants from Nowak & Fraus/LAP Inc. put the results of that feedback into a document called the "Look & Feel Community Engagement Report." City officials have broken the 308-page document into sections to make it easier to download and view. View the report here.
Among the highlights, it was clear that respondants wanted these three things in the new space:

- Children’s elements, like playscapes
- A place for concerts
- Ecological elements, like rain gardens or butterfly habitats
If you want to hear about the ideas in person, the consultants will present the results to the city commission on Monday, Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in Room 315 at City Hall.
