Both peer supports and students with autism establish friendships, learn new skills, engage in social opportunities, and have interactions that, over time, can contribute to meaningful changes in school climate. Through the START (Statewide Autism Resources and Training) Project, similar programs have been established in school districts throughout Michigan and they have had wonderful success.
