Motorcycle Enthusiasts Support Autism With 14th Annual Ride

The 55-mile ride Aug. 5 will benefit the Judson Center's Autism Connections program.

TAYLOR, MI — Motorcycle enthusiasts and autism advocates alike are invited to attend the 14th annual Ride for Autism on Aug. 5. This 55-mile ride beginning and ending at Motown Harley Davidson in Taylor will raise awareness and donations for Judson Center’s Autism Connections program and the Macomb-Oakland County Autism Society. Over 200 bikers participate to raise $20,000 annually for Autism Connections.

“We need your help more than ever this year, so we can help more families whose children have received an autism diagnosis,” said Sal Ferra, president of the Ride for Autism Board. “Ride for Autism recognizes the daily strives and struggles that children and adults with Autism overcome each day. They are noble heroes and warriors and this is why we ride.”

Ride for Autism (RFA) will start with a pancake breakfast and biker registration from 8-10 a.m., where participants will receive an event t-shirt and pin. Riders are scheduled to leave for their 55 mile ride at 10:30 a.m. and will meet up for a post-ride celebration.

Joining again this year as Grand Marshall is Fox 2 reporter Amy Lange. Riders and the public will have the opportunity to win raffle prizes. The day also includes lunch, a special performance by Billy Schultz, and a meet and greet with Ride for Autism’s ambassador former Ms. Michigan America 2015, Rachael Adams.

Lunch will be provided by Meijer and prepared by Executive Chef Adam McGinnis and served around noon.Wristbands will be required. Bike riding participants can register in advance at www.rideforautismmichigan.org or in person on the day of the event.

Registration Prices are as follows:

  • $30 for Bike Riders
  • $20 for Passengers
  • $10 for Non-Riders

Registration fees will be waived for active military members in uniform. Passengers and Non-riders who register for the event will receive lunch and enjoy all the festivities. Everyone is welcome to participate in the fundraising raffles.

Children and adults with Autism may register the day of the event at the Ride for Autism’s registration tent from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The booth will be located outside of Motown Harley Davidson in Taylor.

A ceremony will take place at approximately 1:15 p.m. for all registered participants who are present. During the ceremony, for the 7th year we will be giving out medallions of recognition from the RFA ambassador, Rachael Adams, to all the children affected by Autism in attendance.
