Open House Opportunity For Royal Oak Parents To Be Held March 23
Each of the district's elementary schools will host an open house from 6:30 - 8 p.m.

ROYAL OAK, MI — Royal Oak Schools will host open houses at each of the district’s six elementary schools on March 23 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Each Open House provides families the opportunity to visit the building and meet the principal. Information about instructional programs and student successes will be shared.
Royal Oak welcomes schools of choice students from Oakland County in kindergarten, first, second and third grades. Applications for schools of choice are available both online and at the district central enrollment office. The application deadline is August 11, 2017. Students enrolled as schools of choice students may continue in Royal Oak Schools through grade 12, as long as their enrollment is continuous.
Placement of students enrolled through schools of choice in a particular elementary school is determined on a space available basis following enrollment in the district. For further information, call the District Enrollment Office (248) 435-8400, Ext 1260.

- Addams Elementary, 2222 W. Webster
- Keller Elementary, 1505 N. Campbell
- Northwood Elementary, 926 W. 12 Mile
- Oakland Elementary, 2415 E. Brockton
- Oak Ridge Elementary, 506 E. 13 Mile
- Upton Elementary, 4400 Mandalay
Band Competition
Royal Oak High School took home three top awards at the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) District IV Band & Orchestra Festival. The competition was held February 24 and 25 at Brighton High School. Here’s a rundown:

- The Symphony Band and Wind Ensemble both earned a "Superior" rating in the First Division.
- The Symphony Orchestra received an "Excellent" rating in the Second Division.
“The Royal Oak Ravens are truly a ‘cut above’," said Royal Oak’s Band and Orchestra Director David Jensen. “In all disciplines, they continue to represent our school and community in the best possible light.”
The Band and Orchestra Festival is an opportunity for ensembles to perform a program of three pieces for adjudication. Each group is evaluated by three performance judges and one sight-reading judge. Ensembles are rated on a scale from 1 to 5 with 1 being the highest rating possible. Ensembles that earn an overall 1 rating (or "Superior") qualify for the State Band & Orchestra Festival which is held in late April or early May.
