Prescription Drugs Worth $20,000, Unlocked Van Stolen at Royal Oak Meijer

A $2,000 reward is being offered to anyone providing information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individuals involved.

Authorities are looking for two persons of interest involved in a prescription drug theft that happened at the Meijer located at 5150 Coolidge, according to a Royal Oak Police news release.

The incident occurred at about 11:00 a.m. on Sept. 24, when a driver making a delivery of prescription drugs left his vehicle unlocked with the engine running while he entered Meijer. When he returned, he observed the delivery van pull away, exit the parking lot and head south on Coolidge, according to police. 

The stolen vehicle - a dark green 1998 Pontiac Montana with Michigan Plate G7953H - contained up to $20,000 worth of prescription drugs, including Vicodin and animal tranquilizers, as well as payroll checks valued at over $30,000, according to police.

Police say surveillance video identified two men of interest. The first man is described as black, 6-feet to -6-feet 2-inches tall, 200-220 pounds. He was wearing brown boots, blue jeans, blue shirt with a white undershirt, a gray and blue Champion jacket with “Champion” on the back and a black and red baseball cap with a “C” on it.

The second man is described as a black, 5-feet 10-inches to 6-feet tall, 180-200 pounds. He was wearing black shoes, black pants, a black shirt, black hooded jacket with a red hood and an Atlanta Braves baseball hat. He  also appears to be missing a front left tooth.
