Pest control is expected to visit the library sometime Monday.

ROYAL OAK, MI — The Royal Oak Public Library closed over the weekend due to a bug infestation, library officials said in a Facebook post.

The bugs came out and infiltrated the library after a worker opened the DVD case, according to library officials.
Library officials do not know what species the bugs are, believing they are multiple different species.

Library officials initially closed the book drop due to the infestation, but then decided to close the entire library out of an abundance of caution until pest control further remediates the problem.
"Until we can identify and remediate the problem, we will remain closed. Please keep your items at home or return them to another TLN (The Library Network) Library," Library officials said in a social media post.
Pest control is expected to visit the library sometime Monday.
It was unclear when the library will reopen.
