Royal Oak Man Charged In I-75 Crash That Killed A 10-Year-Old Girl

Police allege the 26-year-old man was drunk at the wheel during the fatal crash.

ROYAL OAK, MI — A 26-year-old Royal Oak man has been charged in an I-75 crash that claimed the life of a 10-year-old girl, according to media reports.

The fatal crash happened on Sept. 16 on I-75 in Royal Oak, CBS Detroit reports. Mark Anthony Silva, Jr. was driving a 2010 Dodge Dakota on I-75 when he allegedly rear-ended a 2009 Pontiac G6 - which sent the vehicle up the embankment and into a bridge, ejecting 10-year-old Lalonni Yharbough, according to Michigan State Police.

Police say Yharbough was reportedly not wearing a seat belt. She was taken to a hospital where she died of her injuries.

The two month investigation into the fatal crash culminated in an arrest warrant for Silva. He was arraigned on Nov. 22 on three counts of operating while intoxicated causing serious impairment and one count of operating while intoxicated causing death.
