Royal Oak Music Students Will Play Live In Front Of Local Businesses

ROYAL OAK, MI — Dozens of Royal Oak High School students will be performing live in front of Royal Oak businesses this Friday and Saturday as part of Tag Days, which is an annual fundraiser organized by the Royal Oak High School Band and Orchestra Boosters.

The event is the group’s largest fundraiser of the year with all proceeds directly benefiting the Royal Oak High School instrumental music program.

"All the things that the school district might not be able to purchase for the instrumental music program — but that nevertheless add such value to the student experience — are made possible through fundraisers like this," ROHS Orchestra Instructor Albin Rose said. "Instruments outside the range of the usual budget, meals and snacks during fourteen-hour marching band days, and many other items are paid for through Tag Days."

The students will play a variety of instruments, including bagpipes, flute duets, string trios, abass guitar and drums duo, color guard flag routines and baton twirling and many other unique instrumental combinations.

The performances will include everything from classical music to the Royal Oak High School fight song to pop music and more. Some students will even take requests from donors.
