Suspect Arrested In Royal Oak Package Theft
Talk about neighborhood watch! A neighbor's motion sensing video camera captured the theft.

ROYAL OAK, MI — A 24-year-old Southfield man was arrested for allegedly stealing a package from a front porch of a Royal Oak home - as well as a string of other alleged package thefts - according to a press release.
Royal Oak Police were called to a home in the 2400 block of E. Hudson on Dec. 5 at 10:50 a.m. The homeowner was notified of the theft by a neighbor, who captured the suspect and suspect's vehicle on his motion sensing video camera.

The suspect was then located in Pleasant Ridge on Dec. 20 at 5:05 p.m. as part of an investigation by the Royal Oak Police Criminal Investigation Division and Troy Special Investigation Unit (SIU), which is made up of officers from Royal Oak, Troy, Auburn Hills, Bloomfield Township, and Birmingham.

SIU officers reportedly watched the suspect steal packages from the porch of a Pleasant Ridge home. The suspect was arrested and the packages from the Pleasant Ridge home as well as a package from a home in Oak Park were recovered.
The suspect is currently on parole for a felony Armed Robbery conviction and misdemeanor convictions for Retail Fraud and Possession of Marijuana.

Royal Oak police say that Larceny and Receiving and Concealing Stolen Property charges are being sought against the suspect in the Royal Oak and Pleasant Ridge incidents.
