Unlocked Cars Targeted In Royal Oak
Computers, money and a watch were among valuables taken from vehicles recently in the city.

ROYAL OAK, MI — A number of unlocked cars in Royal Oak recently had items stolen from, according to police reports. Thefts from the owners of four vehicles over several hours May 20 and happened in the 2300 block of Starr Road, the 1200 block of Mayfield, the 1900 block of Crooks and the 1000 block of Fernwood after the vehicles had been parked overnight.
A backpack containing a MacBook Pro, headphones, change, a phone charger, Movado watch and an HP laptop computer and power cord were among items stolen from the vehicles. A man also reported that someone stole a wallet containing credit cards and $30 cash from inside his 2002 Pontiac while it was parked in the 4000 block of Rosewold Avenue, the Oakland Press reported.
In a separate incident, the owner of a 2016 Toyota told police Wednesday he discovered the rear window of his car shattered while the vehicle was parked for a few hours. The Toyota was parked outside the Kroger store at 2000 E. 12 Mile Road, police reports said.

Lumber Stolen

Royal Oak Police said somebody stole an undisclosed amount of lumber from a property that is undergoing renovations. The man who contacted police on May 22 told an officer the lumber was taken days before he returned the site about 9:30 a.m. in the 400 block of Detroit Avenue.
Beaumont Hospital Thefts
A woman’s Samsung cellphone was taken by someone from a waiting area at Beaumont Hospital, 3601 W. 13 Mile Road on May 18, according to Police reports. The next day another woman called police after someone stole cash and credit cards from her purse at the hospital, the Oakland Press reported.
Jeep Stolen
A woman’s Jeep was stolen early May 20 from an apartment complex parking lot, police reports said. The owner told police the vehicle was taken sometime during a four-minute period shortly after 4 a.m. while the Jeep was parked in the area of 13 Mile Road and Benjamin Avenue.
