Age 63, passed away on September 23, 2011, at his home. He was born on January 29, 1948 in Detroit, MI, the son of Norman and Angeline (Komborski) Wirth. In 1969, he married Joan Ruth (Mandia), and she survives. George graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit, MI and later went on to receive a degree in teaching and english literature from Eastern Michigan University. Later he went on to get his Masters in Business Administration from Wayne State University, and a J.D. from the Detroit College of Law. George was active in many things during his lifetime. He was current President of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan and was former president of the Saline Area Soccer Association as well as President of the Michigan State Youth Soccer Association. He was also an avid supporter of the humane treatment of animals, was a Commission Counsel for the Michigan Civil Rights Commission, and was also a member of the State Bar. George worked for the State of Michigan Department of Civil Rights where he was Director of Mediation and had recently retired after 30 years. Survivors in addition to his wife include two children; Kevin P. Wirth and Andrew V. Wirth. Other survivors include a brother-in-law John (Karen) Mandia, many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at the family residence in Saline on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at 1:00 P.M. An open house will take place from 12:00 Noon until 6:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the Huron Valley Humane Society or to the Access to Justice Fund (through the State Bar of Michigan).
