MARCH 21, 2011 REGULAR MEETING

SYNOPSIS

The Regular meeting of the Saline City Council was called to order at 7:36 p.m. by Mayor Driskell at Saline City Hall.  The Mayor and all Councilmembers were present.  Nine Staff members and twenty-one citizens were present.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

By unanimous Vote of Council, the Regular Agenda was approved as amended.  There was a presentation of awards to the Youth of the Year Award Nominees.  There were four citizen comments on the Celtic Festival.

The following Consent Agenda items were approved by unanimous vote of Council:  Council minutes and Synopsis of the March 7, 2011 regular meeting; payment of 94 payees in the amount of $169,554.03; annual Memorial Day Parade on May 30, 2011; Proclamation declaring April 29, 2011 as Arbor Day; excess property declared as surplus and authorized to be sold.

New Business:

Bu unanimous Vote of Council, the following items were approved:  Fire Special Assessment Resolution No. 1 for FY2011-2012 Fire Protection and setting a public hearing on Monday May 2, 2011; Torwood Homeowners Association request to allow planting of trees in the City right-of-way.  The 2011 Saline Celtic

Festival, with approval for the beer tent was approved by Council by roll call vote.  Driskell, Law, Rhoads and

TerHaar voted “YES” and Girbach, Ivey and Marl voted “NO”.  By unanimous vote of Council the Tour of Washtenaw Race and Expo was approved as well as the request by the Downtown Merchants Association to host a beer/wine tent at the Expo.

 

There were seven Discussion and/or Report items and three citizen comments.  The meeting was adjourned at 8:56 p.m.
