The filing deadling for the school board and city council election is 4 p.m. today. Here’s the most recent news. There are two school board seats open. Incumbent David Friese, Dave Holden, David Zimmer and Patti Tanner are running for those two seats. There are three city council seats open. Running are incumbents Glenn Law and Linda Ter Haar, newly appointed Jim Peters, and Jim Roth and John Heller. Check in with Patch later today for more on the election.

Gardening at Mary McCann Park

Incoming second and third grade students at Woodland Meadows Elementary School are invited to tend to the flower gardens at Mary McCann Park, at 8134 Warner Rd. The flowers were planted last year by second graders. The event takes place from 4-6 p.m.

Michigan, Saline Snubbed by Money Magazine

In 2009, Saline was one of five Michigan communities on Money Magazine’s “100 Best Places to Live” ranking. This year, there were no Michigan communities on the list.
