Here are five things you should know about Saline today.

1. The Weather

Tuesday will be another sunny summer day in Saline. The forecast calls for a high of 87, but the air won't be sticky and heavy. It's the perfect day to take the kids to the park.

2. Business over Breakfast

Networking is the key to business success. So hurry on down to Brecon Village for the monthly Saline Area Chamber of Commerce Building Business Relationships Breakfast. It starts at 7:30 a.m. It's a chance to meet new business owners and catch up with long-time friends in the business community. And it's also breakfast, which, they say, is the most important meal of the day. Tickets are $12 for members or $15 for the general public.

3. Post Offices In Jeopardy?

We'll be watching the news for the U.S. Postal Service announcement about its plans to close 3,653 post offices, about 11 percent of the nation's post offices. The decision to close the posts is based on foot traffic and retail sales, according to an article in the Wall Street Journal.

4. Saline Slugger Featured

Recent Saline grad Garrett Gordon was featured in this Saline Reporter article by Randy Castro. The Saline slugger was pretty much all verything this spring and might have been the toughest out in the SEC.

5. Election Filing Deadline Nears

Anyone planning to have his or her name on the ballot for the November Saline City Council and Saline Area Schools Board of Education must have their nominating petitions turned in by 4 p.m. Aug. 16. There are three seats up for grabs on city council and two seats up for determination on school board.
