The two-day Saline Summerfest starts at 5 p.m. Friday features the Saline Summer Art and Craft Show, Saline Rotary Club’s Casino Night, performances by Dance Steps Studio, Dance Alliance, the Saline Twirlettes and more, a concert by 56 Daze Band, a limbo contest, and opening remarks by Mayor Gretchen Driskell.

Paul Teboe, owner and head instructor of Saline ATA Martial Arts, became the 2011 American Taekwondo Association World Champion in Combat Weapon Sparring. Read more in

Chamber Warns About Scams
The Saline Area Chamber of Commerce sent out an email alert to members Thursday, reminding people not to open, let alone respond to, messages from senders claiming to be from the IRS. Here's a snippet from the warning:
We think we’ve reminded folks quite a few times in the past, but it probably can’t be said enough that the IRS never sends notifications out via email.
Today's greeting was given by Saline firefighters Brandon Sears and Kurt Schneider, EMT Glory Harris, and Fire Chief Craig Hoeft. The firefighters are working the grills during an all-you-can eat breakfast at the fire hall Saturday morning and at the Summerfest Chicken Broil. Read more about it here.
