Hornets' Water Polo Team Remains Undefeated

Stehphenie Bundas scored six goals as Saline defeated Rockford, 10-5.

Stephenie Bundas scored six goals as to lead the Hornets’ water polo team to a 10-5 victory over Rockford, as Saline completed a perfect run at the Ann Arbor Pioneer invitational Friday and Saturday.

Saline went 5-0 at the tournament to improve to 10-0 on the young season. They also beat Seaholm, 8-1, Groves, 9-1, Grand Blanc, 15-4, and Holt, 13-3.

The Hornets led 3-0 after the first period on goals by Bundas, Bailey Workman and Ellie Brigger. Bundas, the team's co-captain, scored Saline’s only second period goal and Rockford climbed back into the game with two goals.

Bundas added two more goals in the second period as Saline took a 7-4 lead into the third. Bundas added another pair in the fourth and Workman scored her second goal of the night as Saline won, 10-5.

Co-captain Stephanie Bule was solid in goal for the Hornets. The Hornets' superior conditioning was evident in the fourth period, when they won most of the races to loose balls and rarely left Rockford players any room to create offense.

The Hornets are home Tuesday to Grand Blanc. They visit Seaholm Wednesday and Ann Arbor Huron on Thursday. All games begin at 6 p.m.
