Meet A Future Leader In Saline: Neel Moudgal

The future of Saline is looking bright, thanks to the incredible young people working to strengthen our community. In partnership with T-Mobile, Patch is proud to spotlight future leaders like Neel Moudgal, who are making a positive impact in and around Saline.

As a senior at Saline High School, Neel emerged as a standout leader in STEM by winning the $250,000 top prize in the 2023 Regeneron Science Talent Search, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors. His groundbreaking computer model predicts RNA molecule structures using easily accessible data, which could significantly advance the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases. Neel’s achievement drew praise from Michigan State Superintendent Dr. Michael Rice, who called it “a phenomenal academic achievement” and an inspiration for students to strive for excellence.

Beyond his academic pursuits, Neel exemplifies a well-rounded leader. He maintained a perfect unweighted GPA of 4.0 while dual-enrolled in advanced courses at the University of Michigan during his senior year. Today, Neel is a double major in biophysics and statistics at the University of Michigan, as well as a contributor to cutting-edge research at the Kotov Lab.
