Milan Experiences Power Surge, Brown Outs

About 400 DTE customers are affected by the power outage.

A power outage affecting about 400 DTE customers in Milan is expected to be resolved by 2:30 p.m. Monday, according to DTE spokesman John Austerberry.

Austerberry said the outage began at approximately 11 a.m. Monday. Austerberry said he wasn't aware of the cause of the outage, but said the icing from the winter storm could be a culprit.

At 12:30 p.m. the Milan Police Department issued an alert directing affected Milan residents to call DTE with questions about issues with electrical or natural gas issues. DTE can be reached at 800-477-4747,

The Milan Police Department alert noted that police have the ability to report downed wires and electrical poles, but that the department does not receive information regarding power status.
